Building A Personal Website

Building A Personal Website

Ok, so over the past fews weeks or so I have been taking a udemy course about web development. In this full bootcamp of learning web development, one of the projects is learning to build a personal website. After watching this and learning and, well doing it, I have found a few key points that I would like to share with you all today. The first thing is that most well known computer science professors from schools like MIT don't have websites that look really that pleasing to the eye with all the CSS and Bootstrap styling. They just list a little bio about themselves, any publications they may have worked on and any prior or current job experiences they have. This got me thinking, should we put a lot of time developing our personal website when we could build a basic one that gets to the point and spend the remainder of all that time working on the projects that will be in the portfolio section of this personal site? Even after thinking that yes, employers may look at your personal website as a part of your application and judge your skills based on that site, shouldn't the other projects matter more than this? Lets discuss in the comments. I know this was a short one but this is just something to think about as food for thought. See you guys next week!!
